How to create a recipe for a combo set
Set up a shared recipe to sell several dishes as a single menu item. For example, create a "parent" recipe called "Business Lunch" and add three different dishes to it using modifier sets.
To set up a combo recipe:
- In the management console, go to Menu → Dishes.
- Click Add.
- Enter the recipe name — for example, "Business Lunch #1".
- Select a category and station.
- Add a photo or choose an icon color that waiters will see at the POS.
- Set a fixed price for the combo.
- Under the Modifiers section, click Add modifier set.
- In the Add modifier set window, enter a name for the set in the Set name field — for example, "Course 1".
- Select Only one so that only one dish from the set can be applied at the POS.
- Click Add.
- In the Modifier field, select the recipe to include in the combo — for example, "Minestrone".
- Click Add modifier set again to add the remaining courses that make up the business lunch.
For example, add "Course 2" with "Chicken and Mushroom Pasta" and "Course 3" with the "Caesar Salad" recipe.
13. Click Save.💡 If the combo requires choosing one item from several options, add those recipes to a single modifier set.
For example, a "Lunch Set" that includes a choice of soup and salad. Create two separate modifier sets:
- Click Add modifier set.
- Name the first set "Soups".
- Select Only one so only one recipe can be applied at the POS.
- Add the "Mushroom Soup" and "Minestrone" recipes.
- Click Add modifier set again.
- Name the second set "Salads".
- Add the "Caesar" and "Greek" recipes.
- Save the dish.
To select the preferred soup or salad at the POS, tap the corresponding recipe in the set.
💡 You can't add a dish that already has its own modifiers to a modifier set.
☝️ If a dish consists only of modifiers, its cost price won't appear in the general recipe list. Since Poster can't determine in advance which modifier will be selected at the time of sale, the cost price is calculated after the recipe is sold.
To view the cost price of modifiers, open the dish for editing and scroll to the Modifiers section. The cost price of each modifier is shown next to it.
After a sale, you can check the cost price of the sold recipe along with the selected modifiers in Report → Receipts. Open the relevant receipt, click Details, and go to the Stock deduction section.
